S2, Ep. 11: Cian Fahey, Pre-Snap Reads, ESPN

One of my favorite things to do as a kid was study the way players in the NFL and college played the Quarterback position. I found the nuances of the position not only to be one of the most challenging in all of sports, but, when done correctly, one of the most amazing feats. Cian Fahey has been doing NFL analysis for some time and has developed metrics to measure the Quarterback position. His common-sense approach to NFL analysis made me a fan of him instantly, and it’s easy to see why we will soon hear him on ESPN this fall delivering that analysis to an even greater audience.  (more…)

Fantasy Football 2015: Week 13 Waiver Wire Targets, And Playoffs?

DougBaldwin

The Seahawks’ Doug Baldwin could be in line for a nice string of matchups the next four weeks. Just in time to carry you into the playoffs and beyond.

Ladies and gentleman, we’ve come to week 13.

If your commissioner knows what they’re doing (and I assume they all do) then this week should wrap up the regular season for your fantasy leagues. Now is the time when not just money, bragging rights, and personal dignity is on the line; but the opportunity to achieve all of those things is on the line.  (more…)

Fantasy Football 2015: Week 11 Waiver Targets, And A Pep Talk For All

imageLast night when I sat down to write this my wife walked by and asked ‘when is that over?’ That being the fantasy football season, of course. That question pretty much set the tone for what you’re (hopefully) going to read next. (more…)

Fantasy Football 2015: Thursday Night Audibles For Dolphins Vs. Patriots

I’m sorry, Patriot fans.

I was blinded by $100 million dollar Defensive Tackles and shiny up and coming Quarterbacks in South Beach. I was fooled by defensive geniuses aligning themselves with the unbelievable talent in Buffalo. The jury is still out, but I was also a little head over heels for “Gang Green” after Geno got punched in the jaw.  (more…)

This is the year the AFC gets a little crazy.

There isn’t a dominant team despite what fans want to believe. There are teams that are beginning to see a shift in their fortunes. Most of those teams play in the AFC East, which is where the root of the craziness could occur this season.  (more…)

We all hope to draft them.

You know who I’m talking about. We want those players who played at such a high level late in the season that they get you so stoked about the next you can barely control your excitement. A breakout player in fantasy football isn’t just a player; he’s a bragging right. An “I told you so” that buys you one to two years of respect, more if you do it consistently. (more…)

You will no doubt rely on them at least once this season. Those bargain players that get you by on a bye week or through a tough stretch of injuries or suspensions. They’re always on the waiver wire, a Branden Oliver or Chris Sims.  (more…)

Rookies.

They can be season saving revelations (Odell Beckham, Jr.) or send an entire positional unit into limbo (Bishop Sankey). I’m here to help you keep perspective while not talking yourself out of some of these players entirely.

A word of caution before I begin: very few are worth building your team around unless you’re playing in a Dynasty League. As long as you remember this, we’re going to be just fine.  (more…)

Fantasy Football 2015: I Don’t Play Fantasy Football For Money, But Here Are 5 Tips If I Did

Isaiah Crowell had an even more effective 2014 than his numbers (607 yards, 8 TD, 4.1 YPC) indicated and he's in line to be the feature back in Cleveland.

I make no secret about my dream job in sports: to be the General Manager of an NFL or MLB team. Until then, I get my fix playing and writing about fantasy sports and giving opinions on sports topics. (more…)
