It’s never been okay to downplay a woman’s athletic ability but somehow we continue to allow just that to happen. For too long, we’ve allowed ourselves to view women’s athletics as a novelty or, even worse, as us (mainly men) doing them a favor. I’ve played or followed sports for over 20 years and I have to admit, one thing that always remained fuzzy to me was the true definition of Title IX. I knew it had something to do with equality, but I wanted to know more about it.

That’s where today’s guest, Donna Lopiano, comes in. (more…)

NCAA Football: Why Am I Anti-Playoff in College Football? Don’t Get Me Started!

College football has their playoff. They also have a huge headache coming in 2014.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again on this blog. BYU needs a reality check in athletics, at (18-6) and with a chance to make a statement at home they blew it against St. Mary’s (who leads their conference) and than made themselves look bad by blaming the officiating and throwing objects onto the floor. They haven’t beaten a quality opponent all year and that can be attributed to their lack of defense and too many chiefs behind the three-point line. Upcoming games against Gonzaga will essentially determine the Cougars fate as far as making the tournament in March.
